Hand-crafted ice cream. It's all in the wrist.

You see the words 'craft' and 'hand-crafted' bandied about quite a bit, but what does that actually mean? At Wooden Spoon, it means literally making our ice creams by hand, on a stove top. We cook our custards over a flame until the mixture is perfect, then rapidly cool them before we begin an aging process. Once the custard has sufficiently aged, we slow-churn it so the ice cream has a rich, creamy texture that tastes homemade and makes you want more! We take our time to make our ice creams, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

The custard may be the main component of our ice cream, but we take equal care in the mix-ins and other elements that make up our products. Did you know that we cold-brew the coffee in our Peoples 'Ca Phe Da,' for at least 24 hours before we mix it with the rest of the custard? The cold-brew process involves steeping the coffee in cold water for at least 24 hours before combing it with the rest of the custard and then churning it. We like cold brewing our coffee first, as you get all the great coffee flavour without the bitterness or acidity that comes when the coffee is treated with hot water.

Before you purchase our Smokey Pokey (Caramel + Sea Salt with chocolate covered hokey pokey bits), we're busy making the caramel and hokey pokey. We cook our sugar until it's hot, coppery, nutty, buttery perfection and then fold in our house-made hokey pokey bits. Like the buttery, crunchy 'crust' in our Key Lime Pie? We carefully roll out the crust and bake it until it's golden brown in our kitchen.

We take a lot of pride the the sourcing and creation of our ingredients, to ensure you love every spoonful of our ice cream!
