In the ingredient lists below, allergens are shown in bold. This follows the approach New Zealand food labels now use: Plain English Allergen Labelling, which came into force on 25 February 2024 under the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code (Food Standards Australia New Zealand). Are Wooden Spoon ice creams made in a nut-free kitchen?
No. Our last published allergen statement says our kitchen handles dairy, gluten, peanuts, cashews and other allergens, so traces may be present in any flavour, including the dairy-free range. If you have a severe allergy, please contact us before you buy so we can talk it through.
Why are some words in bold in the ingredients?
Bold words show the allergens in each recipe, such as milk, wheat, soy, egg, oats and peanuts. Food labels in New Zealand follow the same idea: since 25 February 2024 the Food Standards Code has required allergens to be declared in plain English and in bold on packaged food.
Which flavours are free from milk?
Only the flavours in our dairy-free range are made without milk, cream or butter. They use oat milk instead. All of our other ice creams are made with organic New Zealand milk and cream, including the ice cream inside our sandwiches.
