Limited edition flavours

A record of the small-batch flavours that have come and gone. Some may come back, so tell us which one you miss.

Updated October 2026: Full archive of limited edition releases with photos and release months added by the Wooden Spoon team.

Limited editions are where we play. A flavour might be built around a season (feijoa in autumn, gingerbread at Christmas), a favourite dessert (banoffee, Eton mess, carrot cake) or a bit of nostalgia (jam donuts, Smarties, sour coke bottles). Each one runs for a short time in small batches, then it melts away.

How a limited edition is born

Most start in our kitchen with a question: what would this dessert taste like as ice cream? We test the base flavour first, then the mix-ins, because a crumble or a cake piece has to stay pleasant when it is frozen solid. Some ideas come from collaborations with other New Zealand producers, which you can read about on the Freeze Craft page.
